Old Books & Maps on CD by Mail Order


We used to use traditional jewel cases for our old books and maps on CD but now use the newer slimline half size DVD cases which are much less prone to breakage. CDs are despatched within padded envelopes to avoid damage.

The quoted prices include postage and packing (first class post within the UK and air mail outside the UK). All CDs can be ordered on-line using PayPal by clicking the button alongside each item or can be ordered by post using our Mail Order Form which you can print down and send to us with your cheque. If you wish to order multiple items please contact us first as we may be able to combine postage.

Each CD contains a set of "web pages" built up using basic HTML. They can, therefore, be used on any computer with a web browser installed. The HTML code has been tested using Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera and Mozilla on Windows 3.1, 95, 98 and XP. It has also been successfully tested on Mac OS and using the Konqueror browser running under Linux.

Large maps are presented as a set of tiles within the "web pages". In the case of the books each "web page" generally contains several original pages. Text pages are scanned as greyscale images whilst the maps and those pages of books containing colour are scanned in colour.

Every CD is checked for readability - on a different PC from that on which it was written - before being labelled and packaged.


Articles in the press have highlighted a problem with dye fading which makes certain CDs unreadable. Careful storage helps preserve the condition of any CD, a factor over which we obviously have no control once the CD leaves our premises. Notwithstanding that, we happily pledge that if any of our customers experiences the dye fading problem with any of our products then all they have to do is to send the CD back to us and it will be replaced with a new CD.


Please note that our CDs are produced as a commercial enterprise, we are not a library and, unfortunately, we do not have the staff resources to answer specific "look-up" requests. We will, therefore, have to decline to answer any such requests.
