Ward's Directory of Newcastle & Wallsend, 1912.The size of the directory means that it is published as a 2 CD set. The first CD contains the Almanac pages, Wallsend Directory, Directory of Villages Near Newcastle, Gosforth & Coxlodge Directory, Newcastle Trades Directory, Newcastle Institutions Directory and Advertisements. The second CD contains the Newcastle Street Index, Street Directory and Alphabetical Directory. The map of Newcastle and the indexes to the various sections and to the advertisements are included on both CDs. The original map of Newcastle was in pieces when we obtained it and had previously been repaired with sellotape which has left marks upon it. A small area covering Fenham has been lost over the years but otherwise the map is complete. Some of the printing on the scanned pages appears not to be straight and/or is close to the page edge. This is a feature of the printing/binding of the original book rather than the scanning process. The Newcastle section includes: Bell's Close, Benton, Benwell, Coxlodge, Fenham, Forest Hall, Gosforth, Lemington, Newburn, Scotswood, Walker and Walker Gate. The Wallsend section includes: Willington-on-Tyne, Willington Quay, Howdon &c. |
